Ways To Love and Care for Your Inner Child

"I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become."

Carl Jung

"Children must be taught how to think, not what to think."

Margaret Mead

MAKING YOURSELF LAUGH

Laughing for its own sake can be not only fun, but also it may reduce tension and promote feelings of comfort, enjoyment and exhilaration.

All you have to do is make yourself laugh until you actually start laughing naturally.

It's an excellent game. Seriously. Give it a whirl!

HUGGING A PILLOW / CUSHION

Hugging a pillow or cushion while you sleep or watch TV can be comforting and warming if you are experiencing feelings of fear, anxiety or isolation.

CUDDLING TEDDY BEARS

This one seems to be particularly popular with the Inner Child as some of us remember having favourite teddies, and for those who don't, it could be an extra special treat.

FINGER PAINTING

This activity can be enormous fun for your Inner Child and may prove to be an excellent way for you to express that important part of yourself.

I find acrylics work best - there is a large range of bright colours available, and acrylics dry quickly.

FREEFORM DANCING

Have you ever noticed how free and expressive children are when they are dancing? They do not conform to patterns of movement or 'styles' of dance, they just go for it, and move in whatever way feels good in the moment!

As an adult, you might like to revisit this form of expression in order to reconnect with your own Inner Child and feel the liberation that comes with it! 💃🕺

MAKING SILLY SOUNDS

Again, have you ever witnessed how children often express themselves by making sounds and vocal expressions that - seemingly - have no purpose and no coherent structure?!

Yes! It's another important form of self-expression that becomes lost to us as we (supposedly) mature.

The liberating feeling that can come with such activity can be intense and/or immense, but don't take my word for it - try it out for yourself!

Make the silliest sounds you can until you're convulsing with laughter!!

😂🤣😂🤣😂❤️
